First Annual Autumn Open Dyno Day Results

DynoTech Engineering's First Annual Autumn Open Dyno Day was a total success! The weather was gorgeous with ambient temperatures in the mid-70's and plenty of sun to go around. Dyno activities started promptly at 8 a.m. and lasted until 6 p.m. to which nearly everyone who registered for the dyno pull package special, got in within the allotted time. Good food, fast cars and high performance comradery were had by all! We had over 70 vehicles of all makes, models and performance levels register for the event and another 216 people were in attendance to watch. Rear wheel drive and front wheel drive vehicles alike came to participate and there was a melting pot of vehicles that had some sort of power enhancer added to them. Seeing vehicles equipped with nitrous, blowers, superchargers turbo's and stroker engines were the norm so it never got dull! We also had 9 more owners of vehicles making it into our "400 Horsepower Club", 1 making it into our "500 Horsepower Club" and one making it into our "600 Horsepower" AND our "900 Horsepower Club" at the same time with the same car! Cooler outside temperatures and our increased dyno cell ventilation definitely contributed to these awesome power numbers put down by all these great vehicles.

Our "heavy hitter" of the day that made the most rear wheel horsepower was Bruce Merillat with his awesome, blue 1969 Chevy Camaro. It was equipped with a race prepped 540 BBC on N2O that simply screamed! Off the bottle, this thing pounded out 611 RWHP & 563 ft./lbs. RWTQ!

If that wasn't enough, it then ripped off a second pull on the spray to the tune of 907 RWHP & 839 ft./lbs. RWTQ! That vehicle was……to put it lightly, violent on the bottle! Nearly everything on our shelves in the dyno cell was on the floor when the run was over! Congratulations Bruce, good show! |
