"Big Guns" Horsepower Shootout Results
Saturday, October 19th, 2002

DynoTech Engineering's first annual "Big Guns" Horsepower Shootout was a complete success. The rain ceased at around 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning, leaving a bright sunny day and very cool temperatures perfect for making big power.

The "Big Guns" Horsepower Shootout was the event to see! We had multiple cars registered that were making 500+ horsepower and all were exciting to watch and hear screaming on the chassis dyno. Good food, good weather, fast cars and good times were had by all!

The first place winner of the three hour dyno tuning session prize was Glenn Pushis with his awesome, 1970 Olds Cutlass 442, equipped with a 540 BBC on N2O. This thing belted out 950 RWHP and 731 ft./lbs. RWTQ! Congratulations Glenn!

The second place winner of the one hour free of a dyno tuning session prize was Brad Holsopple with his black, 1968 Chevy Camaro, equipped with a 406 SBC that pounded out 503 RWHP and 453 ft./lbs. RWTQ on all motor! Congratulations Brad!

The third place winner of the 5 gallons of VP Racing Fuel prize was Ken Ferber with his super clean, 1974 Pontiac GTO, equipped with a 462 BBP that whipped up 493 RWHP and 453 ft./lbs. RWTQ on N2O! Congratulations Ken!

Finally, an honorable mention has to be given to Mark Edwards and his Blue, 1970 Chevy Nova, equipped with a 511 BBC on N2O. Not only did he have the longest drive to get here, (coming from Noblesville, IN. to Ft. Wayne, IN.……by way of Montana!) but his car provided the most excitement of the day by catching on fire on the dyno during a run due to an oil leak! A quick response with fire extinguishers rapidly snuffed it out and thankfully, no one was injured in the incident…except for maybe Mark's wallet and ego! Even after all of that, his car still managed to muster up 487 RWHP and 431 ft./lbs. RWTQ with out N2O! Good show Mark!

We want to thank everyone who participated and attended this years inaugural "Big Guns" Horsepower Shootout and next years event is sure to bigger and more exciting! It will be scheduled for the approx. the same time, so check back soon for a complete list of next year's event schedule.

The entire event was taped and copies can be purchased by calling DTE during normal business hours.
