Our HD pinion shaft support is manufactured entirely of 6061-T6, aircraft industry grade billet aluminum that is CNC-machined to tight tolerances for an exact fit. This component is a direct replacement for the weak, crack-prone, porous casting O.E. part that commonly fails when overloaded with increased engine power and during a launch on the street or strip. The O.E. unit is a lightweight aluminum casting that is VERY porous and of poor overall quality not designed to withstand the extreme torsional loading high power engine combinations combined with lower gear ratio's produce. This aircraft industry grade material we use for our product's manufacture is purchased from the same spec. batches as the leading military aircraft designers such as Lockheed-Martin, Northrop-Grumman, Boeing and General Dynamics. This component is a direct replacement for the O.E. part that is notorious for twisting off during hard launches on the street or the drag strip and our design is superior to others in that we include additional manufacturing steps that others do not that makes our product stronger overall such as thru-hardening for torsional strength, radiused high impact splines to withstand increased shock loads and a bead blasted main body that denies any surface cracks from starting. Our micro-polished gear sets are a must when your Corvette is destined for road racing, auto crossing or high-speed events that generate extreme differential heat from extended high-load operation. Micro-polishing provides additional gear set longevity/durability in all high power applications. The extremely smooth surface of these gear sets reduce differential lubricant temperature a complete 24* over traditional gears by reducing the parasitic drag and friction between the gear teeth. All of our micro-polished gear sets are deburred, cryogenically treated, surface trued, tapped and tooth lapped to produce a brutally strong gear for all applications where severe heat/shock loads are a by-product of high power applications.
